Principal problems reported and their causes:
Q - Slow or jerky motion in the WMVs
a. Not having a powerful enough processor (you'll want a 333 Mhz or better.)
b. Playing the WMVs from a zip drive or similar slow external or internal
drive.
c. Viewing the clips directly from the site via a slow connection. (Save
them to your hard drive first. Right Click and select "Save Target
As." then follow the instructions.)
Q - The file reads as gibberish or tells me it's not a valid file:
a. Trying to use Netscape to feed the media player instead of Internet Explorer
(more on this below.)
b. Internet Explorer Browser does not have the "patches" or "plug-in"
that recoginzes the WMV stream as a video file.
Q - I can't get into the site:
a. Using capitol letters in your selected username or password.
Q - Main I Bill problems:
a. Declining a perfectly good card (We accept subscriptions by check or
Pay Pal. Just click here
b. Occasional failures of the Web 900 system (I can over-ride this, so contact
me with all of your I bill data.)
The steps below are primarily
for AOL users. If you are not using AOL 6, please
scroll down a short distance.
Also items of Importance for users of Netscape, WEB TV,
Macs and early versions of Internet Explorer.
Linux users now have a well established movie viewer (provided by a linux
user) which plays WMV's as well as MOVs, and other codecs. I've been to the
site myself. It looks good. http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/
NetScape
Users: At the time of this writing Netscape would not support the WMV
downloads. No plug-in to recognize a WMV.
You'll want latest version of Internet Explorer (they can co-exist on the
same computer. I use both.) Just don't let IE 5.X swipe all of your defaults
away from Netscape.) While the latest version of Windows Media Player would
be best, version 6.4 will play ALL of the version 8 clips. (For more on this
re-read the previous page.)
WEB TV Users: We cannot offer MPEGs at this time. It's something we're
working on.
Mac Users: There is a stand alone version of Windows Media Player built
for Mac 8.x, 9.x and even OS X.1 I'm running OS 10.1.5 myself.
1. It's a 6 meg media player. Doesn't download any other microsoft software
or interfere with my system. (OS 10.1.5)
2. It will play WMVs saved to your hard drive.
3. The browser gibberish issue when trying a direct download is due to Mac I.E.'s
inability to directly use the Mac OS. Saving to disk bypasses this issue.
For OS 8.x, 9.x & 10.1 - See "Third Party Platforms" on the following
page - Microsoft
Media Player Selection page.
Early Version Internet Explorer Users: The members area is in frames
format (as is the free section of More CLP) however, without the newer (7.0
and 7.1) media viewer plug-ins you will not be able to view ALL of the WMVs.
Just the ones created after 8-28-01.
Computer help info for those who don't know.
1. Clean your temporary internet files and browser "history" files often.
2. Use Refresh if in doubt.
3. Close ALL browser windows you have open before cleaning your files and retrying anything. They all share data.
4. Learn if you are using a proxy server. Cleaning your computer's stored files will do no good if your proxy has copies saved in your name (proxy's are like hotmail, etc) If that's the case, then only time will wipe them out of the proxy server's cache. That's why several people could only find the old "entry page" when it no longer existed on the server. Their proxy had copies.

How do I view your pages with AOL?
Colight.com is evolving to provide a sophisticated Web site viewing experience.
In order to process orders and provide timely updates, this site relies on a
number of layered technologies, of which JavaScript is an important component.
We are striving to provide high quality content such as the new WMV file codex,
and will be re-introducing RAM files as capture time permits.
We strongly recommend that before joining you download the latest
version of Internet Explorer, and the latest versions of Windows Media Player
{you'll need version 7.0 or newer to view the new WMV files}. We also suggest
that Colight.com users connecting through AOL use a browser other than AOL's
built-in browser, such as Netscape's Navigator or Microsoft's Internet
Explorer in order to view the WMV files. AOL's browser won't support the WMV
downloads and Netscape does not have an available WMV plug in.
{To download the newest version}.
Simply Follow these 5 simple steps:
Step One: Get another browser
As stated above please download Microsoft's Internet Explorer's latest version
. We suggest downloading the newest version available for your operating system
(Windows, Mac, Unix, et al). Here is the link for downloading this program:
MS Internet
Explorer {Preferred Browser}
Once you've downloaded one of
these
browsers, follow the instructions given by
Microsoft for installing the browser. They provide
help pages
for accomplishing this task.
Step Two: Connect to AOL
As an AOL user, you
should familiar with
connecting to AOL. You probably have a
shortcut to
the AOL application on your
desktop that looks like this:
![]()
Simply
double-click this icon (while this
language is specific for the
Windows
operating system, this sequence is very
similar on Macintosh and
Unix platforms as
well), and the AOL application will launch.
Follow the
instructions offered and you'll
connect to AOL.
If you're
successful, you should see a
window that looks like this:

Step Three: Minimize the AOL window
Once you're
connected to AOL -- STOP!
Do not enter AOL by clicking on
anything.
Instead, simply click the window minimize
(again, this is
Windows-specific):

This will remove
the AOL window from your
view. Don't worry: you're still connected to
AOL.
But be sure not to click the "X". Doing
so, WILL disconnect you from
AOL.
Step Four: Launch your browser
application
After you minimize the AOL window, you
can then launch your browser. If you were
successful in step one, you should have a
shortcut for Internet Explorer on your
desktop. You'll want to double-click that
icon now. That icon will look like this:

Step Five: Point your browser at colight.com
Now that you have your
new browser
running, simply point it at the website by
typing in "www.colight.com" in the
Address field and hit the enter
key:

If you were successful, you should now
see a
window that looks like this:
Step 6
Download and set-up the latest version
of Real Player here.
Download the
latest version of Windows
Media Player plug-in here
Now go have some fun!
